Frequently asked questions.

What does an image consultant do?

It depends on the customer; some simply want advice about how to wear colour, and colour combinations. This is called a colour analysis or ‘having your colours done’ Others need help putting looks together, buy their own admission they are not able to visualise how they will look when looking at clothing in the shops or online. This is called a style consultation.

Is it worth having your colours done?

Absolutely it gives you more confidence to find colours that suit you and gives you guidelines to creating a wardrobe of clothing that mixes and matches together well.

It saves you time and money to shop more efficiently, effectively and sustainably. You will need less clothes but create far more outfits.

Is a colour analysis expensive?

A colour analysis costs you no more than one visit to the hairdressers for a cut and colour or a facial treatment. It lasts you a lifetime, not just 6 or 7 weeks!

Will my colour recommendations change during my life?

If your skin and/or hair colour change by more than 50% it is worth getting a refresher to see if some colours have changed.

What happens if I’m told I can’t wear black!

I can show you how to wear black effectively for you, (or any other colour that might not necessarily be in your new colour selection).

Shall I wait to have a colour analysis until I have lost weight?

Clearly this is a personal decision, however it depends on how much you want to lose. Some people use it as an incentive when they have reached a certain goal as a reward. A make-up refresher is always a good starting point for many.

I have an old set of colour swatches, I’m not sure if they still all work can I bring those along to check my colours.

Yes, no problem. It doesn’t matter what company they are from, the guidelines are very similar. We can check them out and see if they still work or need refreshing.

I don’t have much hair, in fact I often wear a wig, can you still help me?

Yes, I can help you feel more confident and comfortable, whichever choice you prefer.

What happens if I don’t like the colours you recommend to me?

It is my job to help you fall in love with your colour recommendations. The biggest fear is actually being told you need to wear brighter shades, these are all concerns we can overcome during the session.

I don’t wear make-up ever; can I skip this part of the session?

Yes, we can. But even the most natural lady often would like a nice lipstick shade for special occasions which we can recommend.

I love makeup, but I’m not confident with colours and or application can you help?

Yes, I have many years’ experience helping women create a quick effective look with a few well-chosen products. They might already be sitting in your make-up bag!

I don’t know what style of clothes to buy. Can you advise me?

Yes, I can help you find the right styles to suit your figure shape, height and scale from a wide range of sources.

How do you assess my body shape?

Very easily! I just ask you a number of questions that give me a pretty accurate picture. I do have a full-length mirror which is really helpful for you to see your proportions etc and I use a variety of visuals and a workbook for you to refer to after the style session.

I have a wardrobe of clothes, but nothing to wear, can you help me?

Absolutely! I can show you in a couple of hours how to work out what to keep and what to remove. In addition to lots of new wardrobe combinations you never thought you had!

Will I be told to throw out all my existing wardrobe?

Absolutely not! My job is to show you how to use your existing collection of clothes and gradually implement any new colours as you refresh your wardrobe.

I haven’t had my colours done or had a style session. Can you still do a wardrobe update?

Yes, with my years of experience it is very easy. If you want to do those sessions later you can, it’s entirely up to you.

Can I book a personal shopping session without having any prior colour or style advice?

Yes, I will ask you to fill in a questionnaire to give me all the guidelines I need prior to our shopping session whether in person or virtual.

How does a personal shopping session work?

I will have planned in advance shops to visit depending on your wardrobe requirements and budget. I will have also taken into consideration whether the items you are looking for are indeed available. If you require shopping for a particular event, we can just focus on specific items rather than a more general shop.

What happens if we don’t find anything?

I won’t be wasting your money or my time if I don’t think there isn’t anything suitable.

What if I buy something, but I don’t like it when I get home?

This is highly unlikely as we will work together to ensure you feel happy and confident in the purchases you make. I often suggest if you are new to personal shopping that we put items to be ‘reserved’ in each shop prior to purchase. Then, after we have had a coffee you can either return on your own to purchase said items, or I can come with you to help with a final selection. There is never any pressure to buy ‘on the day’.
